Looks like Joe won’t be in Django Unchained due to scheduling conflicts.
We’ll have a number of ways to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt back on the big screen this year, however it doesn’t look like Django Unchained will be one of them. Back in February, when we learned that the 50/50 star was set to make his feature directorial debut for a comedy that would also have him starring opposite Scarlett Johansson, there was speculation that this venture could present scheduling issues for him and his involvement in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, and that unfortunately appears to be the case.
MTV caught up with Gordon-Levitt, who confirmed to them that he isn’t going to be able to do Tarantino’s film. MTV says his busy schedule is the issue, and quotes the actor as saying…
“I’ve been in touch with Quentin about it, and it was so cool to trust me to do this little part in his movie,” Gordon-Levitt said. “I would have loved, loved to have done it. He’s one of my very favorite filmmakers, and he was really supportive of me directing and that meant the world to me.”
By the way he words it, it doesn’t sound like it was a huge part in the movie, but it still would have been great to see the actor reunite with his Inception co-star Leonardo DiCaprio. It’s disappointing over all though, as Gordon-Levitt was one more excellent actor tacked on to an already solid looking cast, which in addition to DiCaprio, includes Jamie Foxx, Chrisoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sacha Baron Cohen, and others.
In the meantime, fans of Gordon-Levitt will see him back on the big screen soon enough. He’s set to appear in a few films out this year, including The Dark Knight Rises, Premium Rush and Looper.
